University of Texas Professor Kurt
M. Marshek Ph.D. P.E. is an associate consultant to Akin Investigations and
performs vehicle accident reconstructions for the company. Dr. Marshek
specializes in mechanical design, vehicle accident reconstruction, and products
liability cases and is an expert witness in patents as well. He has a
particularly strong interest and background in vehicle component design and
analysis.
Dr. Marshek holds the Harry L. Kent Professor Emeritus position in the
Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Austin and is a
Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the National
Academy of Forensic Engineers, and is listed in Who's Who in Engineering; Who's
Who in Technology Today; International Who's Who in Engineering; American Men
and Women of Science; and Who's Who in the South and the Southwest.
Dr. Marshek has reconstructed motor vehicle accidents since 1968. He supervised
the design and construction of numerous vehicles including all-terrain,
electric, race, hovercraft, and airships and has published more than 150
technical publications and text books.
